Towsley has been a professional writer for over 20 years. With a career that spans the worlds of fashion, entertainment, the Fortune 500 and politics, her favorite experiences include anecdotes from the emergence of Starbucks Coffee Company, a safari on the Lewa Wildlife Conservancy in Kenya, working with a British rock band, producing fashion shows for the Angelrox label and doing Advance work with U.S. Presidents, Vice Presidents and Presidential campaigns.
As a skater, she trained under several renowned coaches, performed in Lake Placid, competed regionally and coached at several rinks including the Ashburn Ice House in Virginia and NYC's Trump Wollman Rink in Central Park. She took the lessons from her days on ice and penned the children's book, It's Okay to Fall. With her unique perspective, the technical aspects of the book give the story a duality -- that of a "how to" piece as well as a picture book inspiring some important lessons about determination, tenacity and inner faith.
Ms. Towsley earned her M.A. in Public Communications from American University and her B.A. in Political Science from the University of Arizona. She's a member of The Society of Children's Book Writers & Illustrators (www.rmcscbwi.org). A native of the Washington, D.C. area, she has lived in Boston, Chicago, New York City (where she made her acting debut on Sex in the City) and Tucson.
Currently, Ms. Towsley resides in Colorado with her family. She continues to enjoy skating and many other recreational sports when she isn’t writing.
